————————————————————————

Once again, a Tubi channel original movie has taken me by surprise by being excitedly, entertaining and a solid thriller that keeps building as a story goes along with quite a few twist and moments, you are shocked, actually go there. As this film is crazy. Yet timely

At first, the film plays as expected, but as it goes along with each act, it gains momentum and offers more shocks and the unexpected. As we can all identify with the film and it’s characters. Trying to find love in all the wrong places all the games that are played only

To discover your partner might be a monster.

The film is gory, but not an obnoxious way that can be somewhat tasteful, even if there are other parts of the film that some audiences might find gross, distasteful, and disgusting.

The cast is all excellent and truly make the film work and stay believable even in some of the more outlandish material and scenes. Especially one of the central characters within the film wasn’t expecting a literal monster to be involved.

Having watched a few films by director, Danishka Esterhazy. A few of which on the Tubi channel. She has made plenty of thrillers in here. She seems more confident with her material, focusing more on the scares and characters as well as the sensationalism. She is really coming into her own helping raise the bar of what is commonly thought of when it comes to the Tubi channel. And it’s originals that are more low budget films to be screened with Hollywood and foreign hits, but also a bastion for true independent filmmakers usually involved or characterized by genre.

Though there are plenty of times that the film feels like a B-movie. It has quite a few dramatic scenes that grounded in reality. Though the film

Ian’t for the squeamish as it gets quite nasty

The last act of the film is off to the races of excitement as it truly has you and it’s grip.

My only group is that while the practical special effects make up is impressive. You can see the seams on the actors back, which take you out of the film a bit, but not enough to make this film a failure.

ABIGAIL (2023)

Directed By: Melissa Vitello

Written By: Gunnar Garrett

Cinematography: Bryan Ricke

Editor: Michael S. Ojeda

Cast: Ava Cantrell, Tren Reed-Brown, Gene Farber, Hermione Lynch, Karina Westbrook, Yanni Walker, Trace Talbot, Patrick Hilgart, Meredith Vivian

In 1976 a troubled teen befriends her bullied neighbor, seeking revenge on his tormentors, but her obsession turns deadly.

The Film starts off as a coming-of-age film that seems like it will be about revenge before it takes several turns and becomes something totally different not outrageous but a little bit harder to label. At first, it seems like it could be more of a backwoods BECKY type of film. Only with less action and more horror.

This is an odd little film. It starts off as a revenge tale of Justice, and then there are several twists and turns by the end you were wondering, if the title character is truly an antihero or truly just a sociopath and psychopath, even though the film tries to hint at her maybe just being misjudged.

As throughout the victims in the film, I’m not going to say they’re the greatest people, but it does feel a little excessive for what is doubt to them by logic. Maybe that’s justified though there is truly only one innocent victim. It seems and the film seems to have no sympathy for them.

luckily, the movie gets to the point very fast and maybe it’s just my nature but there just seems to be some kind of element missing as the story is a bit more original than you would expect and there’s nothing wrong with the follow-through but there’s like little things that mess with the mixture like there’s really no reason why this film is set in the 1970s except maybe they wanted an absence of technology, but considering it takes place in a small southern town, it could’ve been modern and the characters didn’t have certain amenities

And in its own way you could call this a slasher film that takes its time where we get to know the slasher not necessarily their origins, but we see their kind of upbringing or a little bit after their start.

The film isn’t necessarily gory, nor does it involve any nudity or sex, so you can’t exactly call it exploitative even though when it’s DNA, it has the makings of one. There are several times where it does feel a bit campy sometimes on purpose other times not necessarily and the acting isn’t always the best but it’s good enough to keep your interest while it plays.

BURY THE BRIDE (2023)

Cinematography: Andy Patch
Editor: Krsy Fox

Cast: Krsy Fox, Scout Taylor-Compton, Dylan Rourke, Chaz Bono, Lyndsi LaRose, Rachel Brunner, Katie Ryan, Adam Marcinowski, Cameron Cowperthwaite

Bride-to-be June’s bachelorette getaway turns deadly when her bloodthirsty fiance and his friends show up to crash the party.

This is an entertaining B-movie. It’s a TUBI channel original. So you know what you are going into with this film. You only hope that it offers some surprises. Though much better than expected by a director who actually goes by SPIDER ONE.

Even when it has its chances to be inventive it doesn’t go where you are hoping. It tries to keep you on your toes but offers nothing that exciting. Even though it stays pretty dark throughout.

Once again women are mainly the victims of men throughout. Only here mix in some old-school rednecks. The problem is that the females are far more interesting than the men. Which helps you feel something whenever anything happens to them. As they raise the stakes.

Thought the film would be more of a slasher film until it turns a little supernatural.

The film has an interesting premise that could have been explored more, but it sets its own speed. As everything escalated pretty quickly. So that it can’t explain everything. Like many questions, you might have by the end.

For instance, how was anyone charmed by the redneck groom. She has no need to be that desperate

Then again that’s what sequels are made for. As Star, Co-Writer, and Editor Krys Fox Seems to have most aspects of this film handled. s it seems a project she built for herself from the ground up

The film is entertaining as long as you don’t think too hard about it and don’t ask too much of the material.
